Discharge
Discharge Planning
Your physician will inform you of your discharge and give you
any necessary instructions about caring for yourself after you
leave. We ask that you make transportation arrangements to leave
the hospital as close to the check-out time as possible. A staff
member or volunteer will be available to escort you to the lobby by
wheelchair.
Your Hospital Bill
If you have insurance, we will help you with your insurance
claim by billing the insurance carrier directly. We accept payment
from Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurance and
contracted managed care companies with the proper authorization.
Once your insurance has made its payment determination, if you have
provided information regarding a secondary insurance, we will also
bill any co-insurance or deductible amounts to them. If you do not
have a secondary insurance, you will be responsible for any
co-insurance or deductible amounts.
If you do not have insurance, our Financial Counselors are
available onsite to help you determine if you are eligible for
Medicaid or Charity Care. They can be reached at the Hospital or by
calling 973-365-4324, (Medicaid); 973-365- 4367, 4352, or 4213,
(Charity Care).
If you do not qualify for Medicaid or Charity Care, you are
responsible for the hospital charges and will be billed
accordingly.
In addition to your hospital bill, you may receive other
statements from members of your healthcare team who have
participated in your treatment. These may include your own
physician or other physicians, such as a surgeon, anesthesiologist,
cardiologist, radiologist or pathologist. Questions about these
bills should be directed to that physician's office.
